Kota Kinabalu: Mohd Iskandar Shah Ali was elected to head the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Kota Kinabalu chapter during its annual general meeting (AGM) held recently.

The other officer bearers are Faridah Malai (Secretary), Rosie John (Treasurer), Dr Stuart Chin (head of the education committee), Catherine Marcus (head of rescue committee), Fadzrul Dullie (head of events) and Yap Pek Chin (head of publicity/media relations).

Meanwhile, Mohd Iskandar invited pet lovers to register with the SPCA as well as those who have registered but were inactive.

He said the new executive committee will pay a courtesy visit to the Mayor and the State Veterinary Director to share with them the SPCA's mission for the coming years as well as coordinate efforts with the two agencies.

He also reminded dog owners to register their canines with City Hall as well as on the condition of their pets during these hot days by ensuring their pets have ample fresh water to drink as well as adequate ventilation.
