| :. More info needed on the Kepayan strays |
A Kepayan rate-payer is advised to furnish the Penampang district Council with more information regarding the nuisance created by stray dogs on the housing road where she lives.
ROSE said the canines rifled through the bins in the search for food, scattering the rubbish on the stretch and in front of the homes of those living there.
"We constantly have to keep our doors and windows closed to prevent the stench from the scattered waste from entering our homes," she said.
"We are so fed up of having to clean up after these animals."
She said some of her neighbours had complained about missing sandals and shoes.
"They suspect that the dogs may have entered their compound and made off with these items."
Rose said she had reported these problems to the Council on several occasions since May.
"Despite assuring me that action will be taken, so far the nuisance still persists."
A Council spokesman said the resident would have to specify the area where the dogs had been seen.
"She should also give us a rough idea of the time when the dogs where seen and a rough description of these animals," he said.
He said this information would help in the Council's efforts to deal with this problem.
The spokesman also reminded dog owners to ensure that their pets did not wander unsupervised on housing roads and other public places.
The resident should liaise with Hotline to find out who to see about her dog woes. (SS)
