:. SPCA Greetings for 2010

Dear Member of SPCA Kota Kinabalu,

A week has gone by in 2010 and before it goes any further, I wanted to extend this word of Greetings for 2010 and Thanks for 2009.

A year has gone by in "a blink of an eye" and without realizing it, we have left our footprints on 2009. I ask you all, "Was it something that you could be proud of or was it something that you regret?" How about what you did or didn't do for our furry and not so-furry friends. Did you save a life? Did you open up your home? Did you stop to feed an empty stomach? or Did you just pet something on its head? All these acts of kindness did not go unnoticed. Maybe we didn't see you do it but the animal you helped showed it in its eyes. It thanked you for taking a short moment in your hectic and busy lives to give it a little bit of attention. Whether you believe in God or believe in "Karma". There is more to life that we we drudge ourselves through everyday and I believe that the animals (pets or otherwise) know more to life than they are letting on.

With our new Executive Committee, we have tried the past year to establish some starting points and some ground rules to running this association. Benchmarks needed to be set and relationships needed to be built or rebuilt. We have come a long way and we couldn't have accomplished all that we have without the help of our members. Yes..., I mean YOU! Whether it was from the cookies and food you donated for the fundraising, the gifts that we sold to raise awareness, the time you spent during our roadshows or programs and even by attending the meetings. Some of you helped with awareness in the newspapers and some by generally spreading the word of hope to other people that you met. You all made a difference to this past year and we would like to Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! A very big Thank You to all the Veterinarians who always "closed" one eye whenever we brought in strays for treatment. You are ALL an integral part of what we are trying to accomplish!

For the coming year of 2010, we will be doing our best to carry on with the awareness campaigns, raise the funds we need to help the animals and above all else, establish a shelter where these homeless animals can find a temporary place to live before someone, maybe you..., opens up their hearts and homes to them. Please carry on with the good work you have been doing. We really do appreciate it. I would also like to request that you try to participate in our upcoming programs, talks, roadshows and even meetings. Your presence and participation is the "fuel" we NEED to keep going this year!

In closing, I would like to share a few pictures that a friend shared with me (it was titled "I come in Peace"). I wish we could all get along the way they do...

Happy New Year for 2010 and God Willing, we will see you soon!

'I Come in Peace.'

If you don't already think animals are far more spiritually advanced than we humans, think again. Stuart Brown describes Norbert Rosing's striking images of a wild polar bear coming upon tethered sled dogs in the wilds of Canada 's Hudson Bay.

The photographer was sure that he was going to see the end of his dogs when the polar bear wandered in.

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.

May you always have love and abundance to share,

health to spare,

and friends that care.

Warmest wishes for 2010!
